dun make urself sound so high and mighty. before criticising teams for pullin out of funka, think abt the reasons on why did they do so. MAYB the fault lies in the management. dun put the blame on others. question urself. MNO1001. HR1001. take some of these modules and LEARN something useful in your uni life. ur actions ultimately reflects CAC's image whether u like it or not so congratulations for ruining it.

I'm one of the participants of the competition you guys are holding. I must say that its quite a big thing for dancers out there where teams could get their prestige from winning but it is the fact that your organisation (well, u may say the previous comm who did it) screwed up your own reputation last year. Pardon me for my language but anyway back to the story. It was a great disappointment to some of the participants last year. MANY spent months practicing for FUNKA last year which ur organisation told the teams to "refer to the type of dance themes the previous years". A lot of us followed the advice.

Well to make it clear to you, the previous years, the funka dance competition has been based on the themes of the dance items and how the dancers relates their dance to their theme. Needless to say, it's a rojak of all styles of dance in it. Jazz, hip hop, modern, take exampe of the winners of Funka two years ago, The water babes. (can't remember the name, u can go check it up). Well, i was saying ALOT of them, including my team members and I heeded the organisation's advice. We trained everyday for months for the prestigous funka.

Finally on the day of competition prelims, we were shocked with the announcement that the competition wants "strictly hip hop" and that the judges are looking at how HIP HOP dance is being excuted. Many of the teams who did very well with their dance items (eg. those japanese sch kids item) could not get into finals just bcus their theme is NOT HIP HOP. Needless to say, my team did not get in either. It was a disappointment. The judges said this is a "strictly HIP HOP" competition when the banner at the back of the stage said, "FUNKAMANIA XI HIP HOP & DANCE" competition.

I hope you do not blame the judges for this, i understand that the criteria might be imposed by the judges last min or watever but it is the organisation's miscommunication with the judges on its part and as the pple who are holding the competition and understands the well-being of the participants who supports the competition, they should do an good job communication with ALL.

This year, Funka competition is divided between 'strictly hip hop' style and dance items based on theme style. Nothing is clear, i heard you guys want "STREET STYLE" this year. Obviously the Semis are redundant, and wanting group/solo battle is quite ridiculous when you guys don't even know what it is about, i hope the organisation won't be so slack on such nitty gritty details. You must understand that you are NOT a dancer. Your job is not to just entertain the audience with the outcome of the competition but at the same time be understanding about the view points of the dancers/participants who are supporting you guys. I hope u understand what i mean.

I know this is your blog, you can say anything you want, but as a PR of funka i hope you keep your professionalism by NOT shooting your mouth off in a blog and offending pple who could be your future supporters. Also, feedback to your team members, pls know what you want before deciding on any rules of regulations of the competition. I suggest you guys go read up on what is dancing all about and do some understanding of the dance scene out there. There is more than you organisation know. Also, less miscommunication with the judges and participants.

Oh, one more thing, pls do not criticise dancers when u are NOT a dancer. How much you understand by sycronisation, how much you understand about hip hop style and other dance styles? Do not criticise the judges too, i don't deny some can be really screwed up but i suggest you do keep things to yourself when you know nothing. By the way, the judges are decided by your own organisation. Instead of behaving like a small kid on your blog, i suggest you make some improvement. Just remember you are the PR of your organisation, you just screwed up your prossionalism just abit but i hope you can do better. I don't expect you to apologise or be sorry, well, it's ur call but what i ask is your understanding. I know nuts abt the shit you guys went thru but since you guys call the shots, i hope you guys Do a better job!

This is long but its just my two cents worth. I'll see you at the semis miss peirong.

hi there i am a close friend to the team that you commented on ur blog...they are a nice bunch of people not thinking highly of themselves and always seeking to improve on their dancing...they only came across this blog becos other teams who joined the competition sent them your link....their team decided not to join the compeition because their nus dance instructor specifically asked them and the club not to. that is the reason why they didnt join this time...but if u would have done a bit of research , you would have known that one of their team members is actually in another team which is in the semis...he wanted to learn from other groups and their captain was fine with it...this is to show that the so called 'boycott' is only namewise and not as a team...cos a lot of the club's members still joined the competition anyway and may be in the bad shoes of the instructor...u r right to say anything u like but please be aware that that team has a lot of friends (friendly competitors, own club members, dance studio friends) who are in the competition at the moment and these teams may really boycott ur event if they feel that one of their people have been wronged..this would affect ur event greatly and produce even more unnecessary problems...so do take the appropriate actions...funkamania is a great event...everyone hope that it wont be spoiled at only one week's time away...

hear hear! now what alleycat say is true. and i feel i should add on abit more about funkamania's management. year before last it was always theme based. last year it was suddenly changed to hiphop. total shock to everyone. this year became theme based again. this is not the judges fault but CAC's fault. WHY? simply because CAC IS the organising committe so you guys should specify the genre accordingly and not leave everything up to the judges. if you wish to leave the final decision up to the judges then CAC should have finalised the panel eons ago. again do not blame the judges for last min changes. if you need more time then start organising EARLIER. moreover the judges are going to change during the semis and finals? you want to talk about consistency and yet you guys are not proving it. the judges are way more qualified then you think so you, a non dancer, should watch your mouth.

Hey hey ppl, I am a nobody. Not from any dance team/CAC. I am just a blog reader that happened to come across this blog some time ago.

I know its none of my business, But please allow me to say something. Something FAIR.

Shouldn't the thing about blaming CAC stop? this is a personal blog. It represents blogger's opinion and not CAC.

Of course some ppl respect the judges. But the fact is not everybody respect them...

If you guys are so persistant in blaming CAC rather than the blogger, that just goes to show this much in your character.

So I just hope that everyone can stop the CAC thingy here and there. Its entirely the blogger's opinion and non of CAC's business. Think you guys should be more objective about it.
